Program Description:
The department offers a master's degree in educational leadership; licensure programs for principals, CIPD and superintendents; specialist degree in educational leadership and a Ph.D. in educational leadership.
The MSEd curriculum covers topics such as educational leadership, supervision and professional development, instructional leadership, curriculum, school law, internship, research, community relations, leadership in diverse communities and school finance.
The principal license may be earned by completing 12 additional semester hours and providing evidence of two years of teaching experience under a standard teaching certificate. A student who has earned a principal license may choose to pursue a superintendent license.
An educational specialist degree (EdS) is available to students who have completed the MSEd. The EdS program is designed to enhance individual capabilities for educational leadership.
The Ph.D. program in Educational Leadership is designed for educators who are committed to providing leadership at the elementary, secondary and collegiate levels.
Eligibility Requirements:
Master’s - Results from the GRE or MAT are required for applicants with an undergraduate grade point average below 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants may wish to submit copies of their Praxis results and current licensures, if available.
Doctoral- Results from the GRE are required.
