Program Information
Degree Offered
Digital Energy
Format: Campus, Online
Program Description:
ITP is accepting applications for a new graduate program in Digital Energy. The Digital Energy program (DEP) gives students the tools to participate in the new energy economy which combines current and new energy sources with information and communication technologies to make a "smart" energy grid. A key to this change is the underlying communication networks that provide the platform for advanced metering, automation of energy distribution and transmission, and new models of energy system operations. To make a successful transition, the industry workforce needs new skills in IP networks, wireless communication, and network security, all components of the DEP curriculum.
The program includes a certificate in Energy Communication Networks which can be earned independent of the MS. Students interested in greater specialization may pursue a Master of Science in Telecommunications which will enhance the certificate education by incorporating the professional skills necessary to be a leader in the energy industry. Key academic elements of the program include:
•Wireless Networks
•Computer and Network Security
•Network Architecture
•Power Electronics
•Project Management
The education we offer has built in flexibility: Certificate may earned in 2-4 semesters; MS degree may be earned in as little as 3 semesters; and Campus or online course delivery available. All Digital Energy student candidates should have an understanding of calculus-based physics to be adequately prepared to begin the program.
