Program Description:
M.A. in Literature trains students in English-language literature from the Middle Ages to the present, as well as theoretical and topical approaches to literature; M.A. in Creative Writing trains students to write in a variety of genres and to study literature from the point of view of a working writer. PhD prepares graduates as scholars and teachers of literature.

CU-Boulder is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA).
Eligibility Requirements:
MA-LIT Admission requirements
• A BA degree, English major or 24 semester hours of English (exclusive of speech,
creative writing, and composition) and at least 15 upper-division semester hours of English.
• Verbal and analytical writing sections of the GRE General Test (approximately 600/5.0).
• Overall undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0.
• Submission of a complete online application through ApplyYourself. Please see below for both

PHD Admission Requirements
• MA degree in English or 30 semester hours of graduate English coursework (exclusive of
speech, creative writing, and composition).
• Verbal and analytical writing sections of the GRE General Test (approximately 600/5.0)
• Score (approximately 600) GRE Subject Test: Literature in English
