Program Description:
The Center for Women's Studies offers a 2-year interdisciplinary program of study leading to a Master of Arts degree. The MA was established in 1991 as one of the first 4 programs in the country. The first year core of 6 required courses introduces students to the central issues in women's studies scholarship. The second year includes a 2-quarter research seminar in the student's area of interest. In the sixth quarter, the student typically prepares for the MA oral examination and completes an interdisciplinary research paper. In conjunction with the College of Law, we also offer a four-year joint degree program culminating in a J.D. and an M.A. in Women's Studies.
