Program Description:

Objective is to enable the student to develop basic professional skills in the disciplineof history. The Master of Arts degree offers training in substantive areas of historicalknowledge mainly through lecture courses and in historiography, research and writingtechniques through colloquia and seminars. The Doctor of Philosophy degree requireswork in one area of special concentration which may be ancient, European, British orAmerican history and in two other fields, one of which may be in another department.Every effort is made to tailor the program to the educational background, intellectualinterests, and career goals of the individual student.
