Program Description:
This program is designed to provide the academic preparation for students who desire to work as professional counselors in elementary and secondary schools and in community settings. The program is approved for the school counselor certificate issued by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and meets requirements for the Missouri Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Concentrations are available in elementary school counseling, secondary school counseling, and community counseling. The Education Specialist degree provides advanced knowledge and skill and meets requirements for renewal of current certificates. A program is provided for the advanced counselor certificate, and the program raises placement on many salary schedules.
