Program Description:

This occupational hygiene program trains industrial hygiene practitioners and researchers to recognize, evaluate and control environmental hazards in the workplace. Industrial hygienists are environmental specialists concerned with evaluation and control of the workplace environment for exposure to potentially dangerous agents, physical stresses, biologic agents and ergonomic effects. They provide insight into these problems based on their knowledge of the health effects of exposure to the substances and physical agents involved and the physics and chemistry of the environment. These specialists work as part of interdisciplinary teams with epidemiologists, physicians, nurses and toxicologists.
