Program Description:
The UCLA Biomedical Physics Interdepartmental Graduate Program is one of only 9 programs to be accredited by the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM). Established in 1960, the program has a broad scope of studies appealing to students with backgrounds in biology, computer science, mathematics, engineering and physics. Thesis topics include mathematical modeling of physiological processes, radiation-induced molecular responses, biological modification of radiation responses, development of systems for teleradiology, cryo-electron microscopy and development of database and picture archiving systems in radiology, as well as the expected studies in the physics of diagnostic radiology, radiation therapy and medical imaging.
