Program Description:

The UCLA Medical Scientist Training Program is designed for the education and training of exceptionally qualified individuals who wish to pursue careers in biomedical science. The MSTP requires an average of seven years of study leading to the M.D. and Ph.D. degrees. The goals of the program are to provide an optimal environment for education and research which utilizes the individual talents of participating faculty and students leading to a greater understanding of the causes and treatment of human disease. The UCLA program encourages independent thinking, creativity, self-motivated lifelong learning and emphasizes personal responsibility and service.
