Program Description:

UCLA School of Law's LL.M. Program is a full-time nine-month academic year graduate law program (Master of Laws) in which LL.M. students create their own program of study from our rich selection of advanced course offerings, and take these classes alongside the Law School's Juris Doctor (J.D.) students. LL.M. students have the ability, should they choose, to pursue a specialized LL.M. degree. Specializations are available in the following fields, in which UCLA ranks among the top law schools in the nation: Entertainment and Media Law and Policy, International and Comparative Law, and four separate Business-related tracks: Bankruptcy, Business Law, Securities Regulation, and Tax. With the approval of the Director of Graduate Studies, students may also develop their own specializations in fields of their choice. Please note, however, that students may not create individualized specializations that are substantially similar to existing specializations. Foreign students and graduates of U.S. law schools are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted from October through February 1 of each year.

In order to apply for the LL.M. Program, all applicants must submit the following required supporting documents in addition to the online application:

(1) $75.00 Application Fee.
(2) Current Résumé or Curriculum Vitae.
(3) Personal Statement.
(4) Official Transcripts (From ALL Graduate and Undergraduate Coursework).
(5) Two Letters of Recommendation.
(6) Official TOEFL or LSAT Score.

International Student Requirements:

Applicants who are not native English speakers, or do not hold a law degree from an institution at which the primary language of instruction is English, are required to take the TOEFL exam. A TOEFL score of 590 on the paper-based test, 243 on the computer-based test, or 96 on the Internet-based test is the minimum score accepted by the University's Graduate Division. The Law School usually admits only applicants whose TOEFL scores are well above the minimum range required by the University. In general we expect a score of 600 on the paper-based test, 250 on the computer-based test, or 100 on the Internet-based test, although an outstanding applicant with a slightly lower test score will not be disqualified on this basis.
