Program Description:

UCLA is a dynamic place to study Applied Linguistics. We offer a Masters Program in Applied Linguistics and TESL (AL and TESL) and participate in an Interdepartmental Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics (IDP in AL). Three areas have been identified as integral to a thorough understanding of the field of Applied Linguistics: Language Acquisition, Language Assessment, and Discourse or Grammar Analysis. Program participants are encouraged to study themes within these areas from a variety of perspectives. We have changed our focus from teacher education to research and no longer offer language education as an area of specialization.
