Program Information
Degree Offered
MS in Transportation Science, PhD in Transportation Science
Format: Campus
Program Description:
The Interdisciplinary Transportation Science Program at UC Irvine was created in response to the varied perspectives required to understand transportation problems, transportation research has evolved into an interdisciplinary field. Most transportation scholars now draw on material and methodologies from outside their own discipline, and all transportation journals have become multidisciplinary.
The graduate program in Transportation Science includes faculty from three academic units: the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in The Henry Samueli School of Engineering, the Department of Economics in the School of Social Sciences, and the Department of Planning, Policy, and Design in the School of Social Ecology. The program is designed to educate students in a broad set of competencies and perspectives that mirror the actual practice of current transportation research. The M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Transportation Science are offered.
Accreditation:
Western Association of Schools & Colleges (WASC)
