Program Description:

The M.S. gives students a strong foundation in the theory of statistics as well as substantial familiarity with the most widely used statistical methods. The supervised statistical consulting required of all M.S. students has proven to be a valuable educational experience. The division offers a Ph.D. program with a subspecialty in the area of biostatistics. Students obtain a solid background in mathematical statistics and at the same time acquire comprehensive skills in modern biostatistical methods, data analysis and applications. The Ph.D. program combines advanced coursework in statistics and probability with the opportunity for in-depth concurrent study in an applied field, and has both a statistical consulting and a seminar requirement.
