Program Description:

Graduate studies are oriented primarily toward the Ph.D. degree. The department also encourages applications from strong candidates for the M.A. degree. The department provides training in all areas of German literature from the Middle Ages to the present, and prepares students to be effective teachers. Students have the option of earning a Ph.D. in German Studies with a Designated Emphasis in either Critical Theory or Feminist Theory and Research.
