Program Description:
The Master of Arts in Education offers instruction in theories, methods, and research that contributes to understanding the interrelated roles of learners, teachers, families, schools, and other social institutions. It prepares professionals who can conduct research to improve the education of children, youth, and adults in a multicultural society and who can assume leadership positions in universities, school districts, state education agencies, and private organizations concerned with instructional research, policy, and practice. The M.A. is a prerequisite for the Ph.D. in Education.The Ph.D. in education is a multidisciplinary program, with faculty drawn from twelve departments campus wide. The program offers instruction in theories, methods, and research that contributes to understanding the interrelated roles of learners, teachers, schools, and other social institutions. It prepares scholars who can conduct research in education to improve the education of children, youth, and adults in a multicultural society and who can assume leadership positions in universities, school districts, state education agencies, and private organizations concerned with instructional research, policy, and practice.
