Program Description:
The department offers graduate study in each of the sub disciplines of anthropology: archaeology, linguistic anthropology, biological anthropology, and social anthropology. Specialized training is available in evolution of primate and human behavior, behavioral ecology of non human primates, human evolution, hunter-gatherers, North American prehistory, language and gender, archaeological theory, non-alphabetic writing systems and literacy practices, identity politics, criticaltheory, culture/power/ideology, gender and society, political economy/ecology, urban . The Ph.D. program is designed to develop a distinguished level of attainment in a specific sub discipline, with emphasis on theory and research methods.
