Program Description:
The M.S. degree is both an end in itself and a preparation for the Ph.D. degree. The Master's program includes courses emphasizing applications of economic theory and quantitative methods, along with elective field courses. It is usually completed in a year of study, and prepares students for jobs in industry and government. The joint M.S. and M.B.A. degree program is a relatively new offering which we have devised in conjunction with the Graduate School of Management. This program offers a course of study similar to the regular M.S. program in addition to the full regiment of M.B.A. courses. This dual degree program will provide strong preparation for a range of employment opportunities. The Ph.D. program provides intensive training in modern economic theory, econometrics, operations research, and mathematical programming, with elective fields from specializations such as natural resource and environmental economics, development economics, agricultural economic, and econometrics. Complementary fields in other areas of economics and management are also available. It is typically a four year course of study that prepares graduates for jobs in governments, consulting, and education
