Program Description:
The Program in Human Development and Education at theUniversity of California, Berkeley, a master's and doctoralprogram, prepares students to analyze and investigatedevelopmental phenomena and their relations to educationalpractice. Students go on to work in a wide variety of settings asschool teachers, consultants for school districts, universityprofessors and researchers, among other professions. Afterenrolling in the program, students begin their course work,focusing on research methodology and the psychologicalfoundations of development and education. Topics of concern inthe program are the development of cognitive processes, socialcognition and moral judgment, language and literacydevelopment, mathematical and scientific cognition and thepsychology of exceptional children.
