Program Description:
Whilst this award is for Registered Midwives, the course is offered in parallel with the MSc in Nursing so that core concepts can be shared. There are clusters of modules that are midwifery specific; whilst others are studied with nurses yet have specific clinical competencies which relate to midwifery. The focus is on developing clinical skills (competencies) and theoretical understanding.
The first stage of 60 credits may be studied as an identified specialist cluster, i.e.:
PGCert in Advanced Clinical Practice
PGCert in Midwifery Practice
PGCert in Midwifery
PGCert in Sexual Health
PGCert in Women’s Health (available to nurses)
Students completing a further 60 credits are eligible for the award of
PGDip in Advanced Clinical Practice
PGDip in Midwifery
PGDip in Diagnostic Hysteroscopy and Therapeutic Practices
PGDip in Sexual Health
and students completing the dissertation for a further 60 credits, on a topic related to their area of practice, will be eligible for the award of MSc.
