Program Description:
The rapid advancement in our understanding of disease and progression is continually providing new and exciting opportunities for the discovery and development of new medicines. Safety Pharmacology is a central component in this process involved with identification and characterisation of potentially undesirable activities in preclinical studies. Our aim is to provide an industry relevant course for training, both theoretical and practical, in Safety Pharmacology and preclinical toxicology. The course will address key aspects of preclinical drug development and evaluation, with an emphasis on the molecular and in vivo aspects of Safety Pharmacology. Industrial relevance will be maintained through contributions to the course by experts from the pharmaceutical industry.
This course is suitable for graduates in Life Sciences wishing to pursue careers in the pharmaceutical industry or academia.
The course will recruit in September each year and will be hosted by the Institute of Cancer Therapeutics at the University of Bradford. The Institute and the School of Life Sciences have an established reputation in this field.
