Program Description:
This course provides graduates with a working knowledge of the principal geophysical and geochemical techniques currently available for the detection of buried archaeological features. It provides an appropriate background of materials and soil science, together with the mathematical principles relevant to the detailed understanding of detection methods. Emphasis is placed on the use of case study examples to investigate technical aspects, as well as archaeological interpretation and survey strategies. The integration of fieldwork and subsequent data processing is an important part of the course.
