Program Description:

The Programme aims to build upon teachers' or lecturers' professionalism and experience in the field of guidance and pastoral support through providing participants with the knowledge, understanding, skills and confidence to carry out the responsibilities of a professional in pastoral support. Through the progressive enhancement of competences relating to personal, social, curricular and vocational guidance, participants are enabled to respond effectively to the developmental needs of the learners for whom they have responsibility. Participants will acquire a sound understanding of the synthesis of philosophy, psychology and educational theory which has contributed to the evolution of pastoral care and guidance, including holistic and pupil/student-centred approaches to guidance and pupil support.
