Program Description:
The University at Buffalo Department of Music is one of the foremost centers for the creation, research, and performance of music in the United States. Our graduate programs in Composition, Historical Musicology and Music Theory, Music Librarianship, and Performance attract students from across the globe, and our alumni have gone on to pursue thriving careers. Our department presents over 150 concerts each year, with performances ranging from student ensembles to visiting artists of international renown. One of UB's greatest resources, and fundamental to all of our degree programs is the music library, conveniently located on site in the music building. In addition to more standard holdings, the music library possesses unusually strong collections in the areas of jazz, rare editions, and contemporary music (including related graphic arts). The strong contemporary music presence at UB ensures a lively, interdisciplinary community of composers, performers, and scholars.
