Program Description:
The MSc in Ecology and Evolution is one of the four MSc tracks in Biological Sciences offered by the Universiteit van Amsterdam. It focuses on conveying new theoretical insights in ecology and evolution and providing expert training in a broad range of tools and applications. Human impacts on ecosystem receive special attention in the programme. Examples include conservation of endangered species and habitats, and sustainable management of harvested fish populations, introduction of genetically modified crops, etc. Depending on their background and interest, students may choose one out of six different specialisations: Computational Bio- and Physical Geography, Ecological and Evolutionary Dynamics,Paleoecology and Climate Change, Spatial Ecology and Tropical EcologyAll specialisations offer training by means of courses and a wide array of MSc thesis projects, to be carried out in Amsterdam or abroad.
