Program Description:
The Master of Arts in Teaching prepares candidates to teach in academic fields at the elementary, middle, and secondary school levels, and in some discipline areas in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The degree of M.A.T. is offered for students who seek Massachusetts State Department of Education licensure, which is recognized under an interstate compact by about thirty states. The department has approved programs leading to certification in the following fields: biology, chemistry, physics, general science, mathematics, English, earth science, history, social studies, foreign languages including French, Spanish, Japanese, German and Russian, and Latin, classical humanities and visual art.
