Program Description:

In this program you will:

•Program designed to meet the needs of working educators who desire to support students to “fulfill personal ambitions and career goals in an ever-changing world” (NCTM, 2000).

•Focuses upon effective pedagogies from the real world context of teaching subject matter curriculum.

•Inquires into current issues, trends, and research in math education in the context of meeting the learning needs of diverse student populations.

•Plan of study addresses practices that promote social justice and equity.

•Project work focuses on engaging and meeting the learning needs of at-risk urban youth.

•Develops innovative math educators who are confident leaders in their field.

•Demonstrate their ability to meet the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics standards through the development of an electronic portfolio.

Eligibility Requirements:

Admission to the graduate programs (M.A.Ed.) begins with the completion of the application for admission including the $50 application fee, essay and program specific interview questions. The chair of Graduate Studies reviews the application and determines the final admission decision.
