Program Information
Degree Offered
M.A.Ed. in Special Education
Format: Campus
Program Description:
The Master’s degree in Special Education is based on the Graduate School of Education’s Education Specialist Level II preparation program as a precursor to more advanced study. The program builds on the strengths of the education specialist preparation program and serves as an effective forum for exploring the ideas, experiences, and issues encountered by new teachers in their classrooms and schools. The ability to share experiences and issues with other new special education teachers who are part of their cohort extends the power and purpose of the teacher preparation program design. The opportunity to engage with experienced educators provides an added dimension to the learning experience in the initial years of teaching service.
Students who do not possess an Preliminary Education Specialist credential may receive the basic Master’s in Special Education degree through the completion of additional coursework. Please make an appointment with Dr. Story to discuss this option.
