Program Description:

Jefferson’s Bioscience Technologies department is one of the most extensive multi-specialty departments in the country with programs in biotechnology, cytotechnology and medical laboratory sciences. It has the only academic cytotechnology/cell science and medical laboratory science programs in the region and offers part-time graduate programs in clinical chemistry, hematology, immunohematology (bloodbanking), microbiology and molecular biology.

Jefferson offers multiple options to enter and earn degrees. Students can earn a BS in 1 or 2 years, earn a combined BS and MS in 2 years or complete a professional master’s degree in 1 year. Graduate certificates offer students with a BS and at least 30 science credits technical and analytical skills in specific areas of clinical or research laboratory practice

Accreditation:

Thomas Jefferson University is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. In addition, the Medical Technology program is fully accredited by the National Accreditation Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). The Cytotechnology/Cell Sciences program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) in collaboration with the American Society of Cytopathology. Graduate Certificate Programs are conducted under the auspices of the programs in Medical Laboratory Sciences and Biotechnology.
