McNair Scholars Program

Program Description:

The Texas Tech McNair Scholars Program is funded by the United States Department ofEducation, Division of Student Services as the result of a grant/written by Don T. Garnett(Director) and Alison K. Esler (Asst. Director). The Texas Tech McNair Scholars program isone of ninety-nine McNair programs nationwide. The McNair Scholars Program has beenestablished to prepare low-income, and / or first-generation college students. The long-term mission of the McNair Scholars Program is to increase the number of individuals who receive doctorates from these underrepresented groups. Twenty-one outstanding Texas Tech undergraduates have been selected from the university population to participate in the program as McNair Scholars.
