Program Description:

The Department of Range, Wildlife and Fisheries Management at Texas Tech University (TTU) is an interdisciplinary department that conducts research on rangeland, wildlife, and fisheries ecology and management. Graduate students have a unique opportunity to become aware of important research in many areas of natural resource management and be exposed to the concepts of teamwork and cooperative research. Course work that is required of graduate students is designed to enhance the student's ability to conduct research within a specific area of interest and increase professional communication skills.Research has been an important emphasis in the Department since its inception. The Department has distinguished itself for research on the management of natural ecosystems for livestock production and wildlife conservation. Other topics of investigation include fisheries management, watershed science, brush and weed control, fire ecology, plant ecophysiology, non-game wildlife ecology, wildlife toxicology, animal reproductive biology, and animal behavior.
