Program Description:
The Master of Science degree in Human Sciences is offered with specialization in Human Development and Family Studies. Emphasis is placed on providing a general substantive knowledge based in the specified areas as well as on developing skills which will facilitate the pursuit of the student's professional goals. The focus is upon individual development across the life span, and upon family relationships and interpersonal processes. The specialization consists of a set of core courses, elective courses, and thesis for a total of 36 hours.The specialization in Human Development and Family Studies at the doctoral level has a multidisciplinary, life-span orientation, including the study of interpersonal relationships within a family environment. Possible emphases include social and cognitive developmental processes as well as infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, gerontology, interactive processes among family members, and the family within its larger community and societal context.
