Program Description:

The College of Education offers a curriculum for the Texas State Board of Education Certification Deaf and Hard of Hearing EC-12 Teaching Certificate. Certification also requires a passing score on the TExES examination and a Masters Degree. The Deaf and Hard of Hearing plan requires general special education courses required for the Masters of Education in Special Education and additional coursework in Deaf and Hard of Hearing, including an Internship. Certification requirements at Texas Tech meet and exceed State of Texas requirements for teachers of students who are deaf and hard of hearing. This exemplary plan of study closely mirrors CEC standards for Deaf and Hard of Hearing with additional emphasis on best practice assessment.
