Program Description:

It is a wonderful opportunity for students and faculty, alike, to be a part of a department and school committed to transformation in education and health from local to global. This is especially true in a university setting known for its traditions of excellence and commitment to public service. The Department of Health Policy and Management at the Texas A&M School of Rural Public Health (SRPH) boasts a very impressive faculty and many outstanding students and graduates. The faculty and student benefit from supportive relationships with many local and national health organizations and Texas A&M alumni, one of the largest, long-standing, spirited, and loyal alumni groups in the nation.

The over 100 students currently seeking degrees in one of the Department's degree programs are served by our department's 12 full-time faculty members along with numerous other members of the SRPH faculty and adjunct faculty. Our Department is small enough to take an individual interest in each of our students and large enough to ensure excellence in meeting their educational needs. We have a faculty with specialized areas of expertise in health policy and management who readily work together toward common goals. Both faculty and students week to advance the fields of public health and health care.

The MPH degree program continues to place students in management and policy positions in federal, state, and local health agencies, local health clinics, hospitals, and other organizations. The MSPH and the Ph.D. Program in Health Services are expanding to serve larger numbers of students interested in research positions in academic, commercial, public agency, or health association research settings. The MHA program has evolved rapidly and is CAHME accredited. The MPH, MHA and the School of Rural Public Health are CEPH accredited, as well.

The vision of the MPH program is to be a leading program in developing public health policy makers, leaders, and practitioners who will provide leadership for their organizations communities, state, and nation based on a strong commitment to ethics, integrity, service and the practice of public health's core functions of assessment, policy development and assurance.
