Program Description:

The master's degree in Elementary Education is the largest program in the department. Approximately 75 teachers each year earn this degree. The program of studies consists of a minimum of 36 semester hours: 18 hours are designated as the major and 18 hours are electives. The MED in Elementary Education is designed for two levels of teachers:

* Certified and experienced teachers.
* Participants in the Alternative Certification (AC) program who wish to include the AC courses as part of the 36-hour master's degree program.
