Program Description:
The iSchool at Syracuse is ranked No. 1 in information systems among library and information studies schools, according to the 2008 U.S. News & World Report rankings.
The 42-credit information management degree program prepares professionals who can analyze information needs, design organizational structures, evaluate information technology approaches, provide human resource support, and develop management strategies to meet organizational needs as they evolve over time.
The Master of Science in Information Management (IM) reaches well beyond a typical IT degree and is designed to prepare students to respond to the basic challenges confronting organizations today.
This includes:
* increasing the productivity and creativity of managers and executives who work with information resources;
* planning the effective use of information and communication technologies within organizations;
* developing corporate and government policies to maximize the benefits resulting from the widespread use of these technologies; and
* improving the strategic use and management of information resources in business, government, and nonprofit organizations.
Graduates of the program are well-equipped to work in business, government, and not-for-profit organizations in a multitude of capacities.
The program is available online and on campus, and it also in a 30-credit Executive IM format for mid-career professionals looking to take their career to the next level.
