Program Description:
Syracuse University's Department of Marriage and Family Therapy, housed in the College of Human Ecology, offers master's (M.A.) and doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees in marriage and family therapy. Both degree programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) and include a focus on the family as a system as well as the cultural and societal frameworks within which couples and families grow and develop. The 45-credit M.A. program includes 500 hours of supervised clinical practice and the completion of a master's project or comprehensive examination. The 90-credit Ph.D. program includes a nine-month clinical internship and satisfactory completion of the doctoral qualifying examination and the doctoral dissertation and oral examination.
