Certificate of Advanced Study -- Educational Leadership
Format: Online
Program Description:
The goals and objectives of the Certificate of Advanced Study (C.A.S.) in Educational Leadership are to prepare school leaders with a repertoire of knowledge, skills, and dispositions to meet the challenges of school administration. The program builds on previous experience and graduate work. Over 75% of the course work is online.
Program candidates must commit to completing a 400 hour internship at a school, school district central office, and/or community service agency. The program can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis.
Skill development in the program is project driven. The projects involve all aspects of school building and district operations, such as opening and closing a school building for the year. Budget analysis and collective bargaining contract analysis are additional examples of projects.
The skills used to complete the projects are incorporated in a portfolio which is useful in applying for positions as it demonstrates evidence of accomplishments in areas typically found in job descriptions for administrators.
The benefits of the school leadership program are many:
Gain an administrative certificate.
