Program Description:
The State University of New York at New Paltz offers a 36-credit M.A. in psychology and a 48-credit M.S. in mental health counseling.
Accreditation:
The M.S. in mental health counseling is registered with the State Education Department as meeting the educational requirements necessary for mental health counseling licensure in New York. The M.S. in school counseling meets New York State requirements for certification in school counseling.

PSYCHOLOGY: B.A. from regionally accredited institution; 3.0 undergrad GPA and in psych courses or strong evidence of recent academic achievement; undergrad General Psychology, Statistics, Experimental Psych/Psych Research Methods; satisfactory GRE General Test score; Psychology GRE optional; Graduate Application; official transcripts of undergrad/grad work; 3 ref letters
COUNSELING: B.A. from regionally accredited institution; 3.0 undergrad GPA or strong evidence of recent academic achievement.; satisfactory performance (preferably 1000 combined or higher) on GRE General Test; 9 undergraduate credits in psych or related social sciences; inferential statistics and research methods; Graduate Application; official transcripts of undergrad and grad work; 3 ref letters; optional: Inclusion of supplemental materials (resume, papers, other relevant written materials, etc.)
