St. Joseph's College's undergraduate child study program is regarded as one of the best in the region and our graduate programs in this popular discipline are no exception. The M.A. in Childhood or Adolescence Special Education with an annotation in Severe and Multiple Disabilities, which is offered at the Long Island Campus, is another example, providing comprehensive graduate-level training in special education.
The 36-credit, part-time program implements theory and method in the classroom through essential fieldwork opportunities, which allow students to work directly with special education students and their families. Our students also apply the principles and theories of special education as they relate to the diagnosis, instruction and assessment of children with mild, moderate and severe disabilities.
Students completing the M.A. in Childhood or Adolescence Special Education with an annotation in Severe and Multiple Disabilities are eligible for the following certifications dependent on their initial certifications: childhood special education, biology special education, English special education, history special education and mathematics special education. Each certificate will have an annotation for severe disabilities.
