Program Information

Degree Offered

Master of Divinity (M.Div.) in Ministerial Studies

Format: Campus

Program Description:

Students can prepare for professional ministry in the Church through the Master of Divinity degree at St. John’s University.

In addition to providing students with the skills, knowledge and perspective for pastoral work, the program also gives students a comprehensive understanding of the Christian theological perspective, an understanding of the world’s major religions and the ability to produce original research on major historical, social and spiritual issues in theology.

This well-balanced program conforms to the M.Div. guidelines established by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). The introductory year of the program strengthens the student’s commitment to ministry and graduate study. The second phase features intensive graduate study examining the richness of the Catholic faith and its theological heritage in light of modern human experience.
