Format: Campus
Program Description:
The four-year Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree program at St. John’s prepares students for success as highly skilled practitioners able to provide professional diagnostic, remedial and clinical services with a special sensitivity to the cultural and linguistic diversity of their clients.
Advanced courses include work in early intervention, electrophysiology, hearing aid technology and vestibular assessment among other topics students need to become outstanding practitioners. The program includes intensive one-to-eight-week institutes, weekend workshops, distance learning and a 2,000-hour practicum in the final year.
St. John’s offers this professional doctorate in cooperation with Adelphi and Hofstra Universities, which form the Long Island Au.D. Consortium. Though students declare a home university, which officially grants their degree, they take classes at each of the Consortium’s universities. The program is fully accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
