Program Description:

The Master of Music program in Music Education is designed to improve the musical and pedagogical skills of teachers by:
Broadening their knowledge of current methods of music education, including Orff, Kodaly and Dalcroze;
Strengthening their ability to choose and use the most effective pedagogical techniques;
Offering flexibility within the program to expand their knowledge of educational, psychological and artistic fields;
Teachers may culminate their study with a comprehensive examination or with a project in an area of special interest.
the program offers two track: Plan A (Thesis or Creative Work) or Plan B (Written Comprehensive) both at 33 credits.

International Student Requirements:

In addition to submitting an application, application fee, GRE/GMAT scores, and 3 letters of recommendation, international students must also submit scores from a language admission exam and financial documentation stating that the student has $17,000 USD in support of graduate study. Qualifying language admission exams and required scores are as follows: TOEFL: 213 on the computer exam, 550 on the paper exam or 79 on the iBT with no subscore under 17; Michigan Placement Test: 80; IELTS: 6.5
