Program Information

Degree Offered

M.S.Ed.

Format: Campus

Program Description:

The Master of Science emphasis in Literacy Education is designed to empower classroom teachers to keep children at the heart of all literacy instruction, while responding to the demands of research-based teaching practices mandated by federal initiatives such as No Child Left Behind.

It is our commitment that the M.S.Ed. programs should focus on enhancing classroom practice. Graduate students are given ample opportunities to translate theory into practice. Most classes contain a significant applications component. Literacy Internship and Professional Applications in Literacy are tailored to facilitate change in the classroom as well as in the community.

The emphasis in Literacy Education honors the calling of all educators—to guide students in leading richly literate lives. Together we will hold tight to what matters most—the students we teach.
