Program Description:

South Dakota School of Mines and Technology is situated at the edge of the Black Hills, a Laramide uplift exposing rocks that range in age from Precambrian to Tertiary. Cenozoic deposits of the Badlands are about 30 miles east. Most graduate students engage in field-related theses, taking advantage of the excellent geology of the area.
