Program Information

Degree Offered

MA, Psychology – Jungian Studies, PhD Psychology – Jungian Studies

Program Description:

The Jungian Studies program at Saybrook University is designed for clinicians and other students who desire to deepen their understanding of the dynamics of the psyche, add a depth dimension to their work or, explore psychodynamics as a catalyst
for personal growth.

The depths of the human psyche - its symbols, mysteries, and inner myths- were defined by Carl Jung in the early 20th century. Today, scholarship based on Jung’s understanding is increasingly embraced as essential to those who would chart a path through the issues of our time. Jung’s insights into the human condition, the operations of the psyche, and its implications for cultural expression are timeless.

Students will study Jung’s original work, as well as almost a century of additional research covering a wide range of applied fields such as developmental psychology, literature, and the social sciences. The focus is both practical and interdisciplinary, allowing students to take Jung’s basic insights, and the subsequent research, and apply them to other aspects of human experience from family dynamics to law.
