Program Description:

At SCAD, advertising coursework parallels professional practice and often involves real clients. Collaboration with students in writing, illustration, photography, graphic design and other SCAD programs creates a model of interaction common in the advertising profession.

Courses in creative copywriting, strategic planning, business and integrated brand marketing round out a curriculum that produces graduates with superior capabilities and skills.

Students learn the most current and progressive advertising principles and practices so they can graduate with a portfolio that is leading edge.

In addition to having excellent academic credentials, SCAD faculty members are advertising professionals with a wide range of experience at major agencies or in their own companies.

In the M.A. program, copywriters and art directors study in parallel tracks and collaborate to create ad campaigns, much like professionals. The M.F.A. program emphasizes creative strategies, branding solutions, copywriting and production of an advanced-level portfolio. Two field or teaching internships are required.

Eligibility Requirements:

SCAD encourages applications from students who demonstrate successful completion of appropriate coursework on the undergraduate level and adequate preparedness to undertake graduate-level study. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or should anticipate completion of a bachelor’s degree before enrollment in the graduate program. All applicants are evaluated individually according to previous educational experience and level of achievement.
