Program Description:

The Master of Education in Reading/Language Arts is designed for practicing professionals in the field. The program develops reflective practitioners with the knowledge and skills for effective reading/language arts instruction. Candidates will become proactive instructional leaders and literacy advocates of students at all levels of literacy development.

Two strands are available for this degree:
MEd in Reading/Language Arts for Classroom Practitioners
MEd in Reading/Language Arts with Reading Specialist Certification

Eligibility Requirements:

Transcript from the baccalaureate degree granting institution
Teaching certificate, if applicant intends to sit for the Texas Reading Specialist Certification Exam
Teaching experience
GRE or MAT scores, if GPA in last 60 hours is below a 3.0
