Program Description:

Sacred Heart University's Master of Arts in Religious Studies (MARS) program invites you to investigate a broad range of religious expressions representative of the human attempt to come to terms with questions of ultimate significance. Through this reflection it is hoped that the student will be able to engage in a critical dialogue with his/her own religious tradition and self-understanding.

In addition to the goal of personal enrichment, this program has proven particularly beneficial in the professional advancement of educators, writers, spiritual directors and directors of religious education.

The program offers course work in Biblical Studies, Ethics, Modern Religious Thought, Religion and Society, and History of Religions.

Eligibility Requirements:

Admission to the Master of Arts in Religious Studies program is offered on a rolling admissions basis. Applicants should have a strong undergraduate record from an accredited college or university.

International Student Requirements:

Students holding an undergraduate degree from outside the United States must have their academic credentials verified and evaluated by an independent evaluation service. Sacred Heart University accepts course-by-course evaluations from World Education Service (WES). You can review their procedure and complete the necessary application process on the WES website. All international graduate applicants for whom English is not their native language are required to submit an official test score report from one of the following exams: TOEFL, IELTS, MELAB, Pearson PTE or iTEP exam. The following minimum scores are accepted: TOEFL PBT: 570 TOEFL iBT: 90 IELTS: 6.5 MELAB: 80 PTE: 62 iTEP: 5
