Program Description:

The MS in Exercise Science and Nutrition degree program will prepare graduates to gain and utilize knowledge in exercise physiology, nutrition, and clinical testing and assessment of the cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems, and will be able to apply this advanced knowledge in clinical settings that provide cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation and sport specific performance training for athletes.
Graduates of the program will have opportunities in hospital settings working in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation and long term rehabilitation of cancer and disease patients, as well as fitness and sports performance settings such as health clubs, fitness facilities, athletic teams and community sports and recreation programs.

With an innovative curriculum and flexible scheduling, the MS program is suited to both full-time and part-time students.

Eligibility Requirements:

Admission is open only for Fall semesters.
Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, Public Health, Psychology, Applied Physiology, or Nutrition, but is not required. Students with any undergraduate major are welcome to apply.
Successful applicants will have the appropriate prerequisite course work in biology, exercise physiology, physics, statistics, and nutrition.

International Student Requirements:

International graduate student applicants must complete an Application Supplement for International Graduate Students provided by the Office of Graduate Admissions. Foreign students holding an undergraduate degree from outside of the United States must have their academic credentials evaluated by an independent organization. Currently, Sacred Heart University only accepts course-by-course evaluations from the World Education Service (WES). You can review their procedure and download the necessary documents from: http://www.wes.org All international graduate applicants for whom English is not their native language are required to submit an official test score reprot for one of the following exams: TOEFL, IELTS, MELAB, PTE or iTEP exam. Sacred Heart University requires a minimum TOEFL score of 550 on the paper-based test or 80 on the TOEFL iBT; minimum score of 6 on the IELTS required; minimum score of 80 on the MELAB required; minimum score of 5 on the iTEP.
