Program Description:

The MS Chemistry program at Sacred Heart meets the needs of full-time students and the chemical industry by offering a unique opportunity for career and personal advancement to employees of the local chemical industry, while serving the industry to employ and recruit better qualified chemists.
Thesis and non-thesis options are available.

The MS Chemistry Thesis Track is based on course work and experiments carried out in the laboratories of the department and allows students to gain experience in modern experimental techniques and to familiarize themselves with the daily workings of a laboratory.

The Molecular Biochemistry Non-Thesis Track studies the chemistry of biomolecules with a focus on the bio analytical aspects. Computational methods integrated with more traditional methods provide students with a versatile background suited for a variety of industries. This track is non-thesis with a lab component that will expose students to the specific state-of-the-art technologies.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants should have a strong undergraduate record from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or related science with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).

International Student Requirements:

International graduate student applicants must complete an Application Supplement for International Graduate Students provided by the Office of Graduate Admissions. Foreign students holding an undergraduate degree from outside of the United States must have their academic credentials evaluated by an independent organization. Currently, Sacred Heart University only accepts course-by-course evaluations from the World Education Service (WES). You can review their procedure and download the necessary documents from: http://www.wes.org All international graduate applicants for whom English is not their native language are required to submit an official test score reprot for one of the following exams: TOEFL, IELTS, MELAB, PTE or iTEP exam. Sacred Heart University requires a minimum TOEFL score of 550 on the paper-based test or 80 on the TOEFL iBT; minimum score of 6 on the IELTS required; minimum score of 80 on the MELAB required; minimum score of 5 on the iTEP.
